In the project highlighted here, we were contracted by a Heat Exchanger industry customer to produce a horizontally-bored stainless steel tube sheet. This 60.00" diameter, 6.25" deep device, used to channel pipes, would require high precision manufacturing that could cope with its sheer size.

With CNC machining impractical for a project this large, we opted to use a horizontal boring approach for creating the tube sheet, being formed from a disc of 304 stainless steel. We used a CNC Horizontal Boring Mill for this process. This would provide less expensive, faster manufacturing along with excellent peak tolerances of ± 0.001". After the horizontal boring, deburring, inspection, and testing steps followed.
